I hired a car for 4 days in Beit Shemesh, Israel intending to return it to the airport. I realised that this wasn't the greatest company in the world when I was directed to an underground car park 5 minutes walk away to collect my car, only to find a dirty battered car with the with two "staff" sleeping inside with the aircon running. Any way, to cut a long story short the map they provided was incorrect, showing the Thrifty office outside the... Read more

I rented a car from Thrifty by the Portland, OR airport. The location was 1 mile from my hotel. I drove the car to the hotel, and back to Thrifty a few hours later (when I found out that my company will not pay for the rental). I was charged $230 for this rental with no friendliness, understanding, customer service, professionalism. Also, on the initial estimate, I was to pay $99/day, but I was actually charged $159/day. Will NEVER, EVER rent... Read more

Be very careful when doing business with local Israeli Thrifty/Dollar car rental affiliate Albar as the company engages in typical bait & switch sales tactics. I made a car rental reservation through priceline (though I found the same quote on multiple internet car rental booking sites) for a great rate on a high class car in Israel only to find that when I arrived at the location in the Tel Aviv airport that the quote would not be honored.... BAIT AND SWITCH!!! Even with a confirmed reservation Thrify will tell you they are "out of cars", forcing you to rent from their affiliated companies, Hertz, Dollar. This has happened to many other renters. Thrifty corporate does nothing to remedy this fraud.

Made reservations at $17.45 per day for a compact, when arrived to airport customer service rep asked if we wanted to upgrade to a full size for $20 per day at 50% off original price of $40. We figured, $2.55 extra, why not! Everything was electronic, after traveling 12 hours we did not pay attention to paper after printed. On our way to return, we noticed we got billed $17.45 plus $20 per day, making the rental at the regular price. We talked... Read more

WATCH OUT. IF YOU BOOK ON HOTMAIL ETC. THE COUNTER REP CHANGES TERMS AND RATES AND THEN PRINTS UP A NEW ONE. MY 125 DOLLAR RENTAL TURNED INTO 225. even worse...the toll which i had no way of knowing i got cost $1.63. THRIFTY DOLLAR added $30.00 to my card a couple of weeks later for Administration fees. Never use Thrifty. They don't call back nor respond look for a customer service complaint number on the packet you get. I am not finished with... Read more

I opt to use Thrifty Rental every time I visit Kansas which is anywhere from once every month or once every two months. I have spent a lot of money with thrifty Rental and I have not bad any complaints thus far...until today. Once arriving at the counter to pick up my rental car, I handed the manager on duty my DEBIT card and two forms of ID. Please keep in mind that I am from Virginia and we do have multiple credit unions which are valid banks... Read more

I rent cars on a regular basis. I usually go with the lowest price mid or full size car I can find. I have rented from thirty in multiple occasions and find their customer sales tactics and hidden fees annoying at best. I recently rented a car from thrifty. I was charged $725 dollars for a part that cost $12 dollars from Nissan after the cover for the center console popped off. In fact the whole center console cover cost $42. All of this after I... Horrible!!! They charged me a bogus fee of $100 for some hairs on the floor in a small section in the back. I filed a complaint with pictures and they just declined, without listening to me at all. Horrible!!!! I dropped off my car and was charged $100 cleaning fee- they did not tell me until I saw it on my receipt, because there was a little bit of hair on the floor in the backseat. I took pictures and had to rush to get to my flight and... Read more

Thrifty by far is the worst car rental company with the worst customer service. My husband rents about 75 cars each year and we used to use Thrifty until he rented a car from a small lot late at night. There was no inspection done since it was dark and no one could see anyway. The next morning he noticed a chip in the windshield, reported it to the office. Upon returning the car the agent told him not to worry. Fast forward to today, 3 years... Read more
